The Cavaliers entered the half trailing by seven points but couldn't bridge the gap in the second half despite scoring 32 points to finish with a total of 60. They showed determination on defense with two blocks and matched their opponents in steals and assists, both teams recording six and fourteen respectively. However, Virginia's shooting was less effective than that of North Carolina State; they shot 43 percent from the field compared to North Carolina State's more accurate 49 percent.

Virginia's efforts inside were notable as they amassed 34 points in paint and secured a total of 31 rebounds during the game. Their offensive execution led to eighteen successful two-point shots out of thirty-eight attempts for a decent conversion rate of forty-seven percent. From beyond the arc, they managed to sink five out of fifteen attempts which translated into thirty-three percent shooting accuracy.

Despite these efforts, turnovers proved costly for Virginia as they gave up eight possessions throughout the match. Nevertheless, their assist-to-turnover ratio stood at an admirable 1.75 indicating efficient ball distribution when not turning it over.

On offense for North Carolina State, sharpshooting was key; hitting ten three-pointers on twenty-eight attempts resulted in thirty-six percent from downtown and contributing significantly to their final tally of seventy-six points. They also capitalized on free throws making ten out of twelve which rounded up to eighty-three percent success rate from the line.

Looking ahead after this tough loss on foreign hardwoods, Virginia will seek redemption when they visit Wake Forest Demon Deacons at Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Winston-Salem on January 13th at 2:00 PM Eastern Time. Fans can catch this matchup live nationally on ESPN2 channel number two hundred nine as UVA aims to bounce back in conference play.
