First Half

The first half was marked by an aggressive start from the 'Canes, who managed to secure a lead of up to 11 points. However, the Cavaliers responded effectively with their bench players contributing significantly. Jacari White's sharp shooting and Dallin Hall's defensive prowess helped UVA close the gap by halftime, trailing only by five points at 44-39.

Second Half

In the second half, it was Johann Grunloh who emerged as a key player for Virginia. His presence in the paint was undeniable as he recorded crucial blocks and rebounds that shifted momentum towards UVA. The Hoos capitalized on fast break opportunities, scoring 20 fast break points compared to Miami's 12.

Despite Miami's impressive field goal percentage of 48 percent and their ability to convert free throws at an astounding rate of 94 percent, they struggled against Virginia’s defense which tallied eight blocks throughout the game.

Final Moments

As time dwindled down in this nail-biter encounter between these two competitive teams, it became evident that what went wrong for Virginia Cavaliers earlier in maintaining consistent pressure had been rectified through strategic plays and effective rotations from Coach Bennett’s side.
