The Virginia Tech Hokies showed determination on the court with significant contributions from their players. They managed an impressive field goal percentage of 43 and were particularly effective inside, scoring 46 points in paint. Their two-point shooting was notable with a success rate of approximately 54 percent on attempts. From beyond the arc, however, they struggled as they made just three out of nineteen three-point attempts for an approximate percentage of only sixteen.

Defensively, Virginia Tech secured eight steals and blocked three shots but couldn't contain Syracuse’s offense which shot over fifty percent from both two-point range and from three-point land. The rebounding battle was nearly even with Virginia Tech pulling down thirty-six rebounds to Syracuse’s thirty-seven.

Syracuse capitalized on their home-court advantage by making fifty percent of their sixteen three-point attempts and finishing strong around the basket with thirty-six points in paint. Their defense also stepped up by blocking six shots while committing fewer personal fouls than Virginia Tech.

Despite losing this game by ten points, there were positive takeaways for Virginia Tech fans as their team displayed resilience throughout. They maintained an assist-to-turnover ratio above one at approximately one point seven-three while forcing fifteen points off turnovers.

Looking ahead for fans of the Virginia Tech Hokies is another challenging contest as they will be visiting John Paul Jones Arena to face off against their rivals - University Cavaliers - on January nineteenth at seven PM Eastern Time. This upcoming game promises to be another exciting chapter in this storied rivalry and can be watched nationally on ESPNU channel two hundred eight.
