At Cassell Coliseum, fans of the Virginia Tech Hokies witnessed a nail-biting contest that saw their team secure a win against their rivals. The home team's offense was firing on all cylinders, boasting an impressive field goal percentage of 57 and converting 53 percent from beyond the arc. With 28 field goals made out of 49 attempts and hitting 10 three-pointers out of 19 tries, they showcased efficient scoring prowess.

The Hokies also excelled inside, matching their opponents with 30 points in paint while slightly edging them out on fast break points with seven to six. Their two-point shooting was particularly effective; they made good on 60 percent of their shots from this range by sinking 18 out of 30 attempts.

Defensively, Virginia Tech managed to gather five steals and put up two blocks against Duke's offense. They fought hard under the boards as well, pulling down a total of 27 rebounds—19 defensive and eight offensive—which contributed to seven second-chance points.

On turnovers, however, it wasn't all smooth sailing for Virginia Tech; they committed more than their opponents with eleven turnovers but managed to maintain an assists turnover ratio above one at approximately two assists for every turnover committed.

The Blue Devils were not without merit; they showed tenacity throughout the match-up. Duke posted a solid field goal percentage at nearly half of their shots finding success and maintained competitiveness behind the three-point line with nine made threes at a respectable rate close to forty percent.

Duke's defense registered three blocks and four steals while committing seventeen personal fouls—one less than Virginia Tech—and successfully drew attention by scoring eight points off turnovers equaling that achieved by the Hokies from similar opportunities.

As both teams battled fiercely through each half—the score tied six times along with three lead changes—it was ultimately Virginia Tech who emerged victorious before an enthusiastic crowd numbering just shy of nine thousand attendees at Cassell Coliseum.

Looking ahead for fans eager to support their team once more: The next challenge facing Virginia Tech will be against Syracuse Orange right here at Cassell Coliseum located in Blacksburg VA on January twenty-ninth. This upcoming game is scheduled for broadcast on ACC Network where supporters can tune in to cheer on their beloved Hokies as they continue through this season's campaign.
