Hokies Set to Challenge Syracuse Orange at JMA Wireless Dome in a Clash of Titans

As the Virginia Tech Hokies prepare to face off against the Syracuse Orange at the JMA Wireless Dome, fans are eager to see if they can bounce back from their recent performances. The Hokies have shown a mixed bag of results in their past few games, with an impressive offensive display but also some defensive vulnerabilities.

In their last game against North Carolina Tar Heels, despite scoring 81 points and shooting 42 percent from the field and an excellent 90 percent from the free-throw line, they allowed 96 points. This high-scoring affair highlighted that while Virginia Tech can keep up offensively, their defense needs tightening up.

The game before that saw a better outcome for the Hokies as they secured an 83-75 victory over Florida State Seminoles. They shot a remarkable 48 percent from beyond the arc and maintained an 88 percent accuracy at the free-throw line. However, turnovers were an issue with eleven giveaways which is something they'll need to address.

Looking further back at their matchup with Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Virginia Tech scored fewer points (66) but managed to keep it close until losing by just eight points. Their three-point shooting was average at 33 percent and free throws were made at a rate of 73 percent.

Analyzing these trends suggests that while Virginia Tech has been potent on offense, particularly from long range and at the charity stripe, there's room for improvement defensively and in ball control. As they head into enemy territory against Syracuse Orange—a team known for its formidable zone defense—the Hokies will need to be sharp in both ball movement and shot selection.

The upcoming game is scheduled for February 28th at JMA Wireless Dome in Syracuse, New York. Fans can catch all the action live on ESPN Networks as both teams vie for supremacy on court.
