Can the Demon Deacons' Dominance Over the Hokies Set a New Tone?

The Wake Forest Demon Deacons have emerged victorious against the Virginia Tech Hokies with a commanding 86-63 scoreline. The home game showcased the Demon Deacons' robust performance, improving their season record to an impressive tally. At Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum, the fans of the Wake Forest Demon Deacons witnessed a remarkable display of basketball as their team dominated from start to finish. The first half set the tone with Wake Forest putting up 44 points against Virginia Tech's 24. This momentum continued into the second half as they scored an additional 42 points, while Virginia Tech managed to add only 39 points to their first-half total.


The statistics reveal that Wake Forest was superior in several aspects of the game. They outrebounded Virginia Tech with a total of 37 rebounds compared to 32 by their opponents. Their defensive efforts were highlighted by nine steals and three blocks throughout the game, which contributed significantly to disrupting Virginia Tech's offensive flow.


Offensively, Wake Forest was efficient from both inside and outside the arc. They shot at a solid 47 percent from two-point range and an impressive 37 percent from beyond three-point territory. Free throws were also a strong point for them as they capitalized on these opportunities by shooting at an exceptional rate of 90 percent.


A key factor in this victory was Wake Forest's ability to convert turnovers into points; they scored an outstanding total of 23 points off turnovers while maintaining a favorable assist-to-turnover ratio of 1.5. Additionally, they capitalized on second-chance opportunities by scoring 18 second-chance points throughout the contest.


On Virginia Tech's side, despite shooting at over half success rate in two-point field goals (53 percent) and maintaining decent free throw accuracy (71 percent), it wasn't enough to overcome Wake Forest's consistent performance across both halves.


As for individual performances for Wake Forest that stood out included players who made significant contributions across various facets including scoring, rebounding and assists which helped secure this comprehensive win over Virginia Tech.
