Demon Deacons Dominate the Paint in Commanding Victory Over Yellow Jackets

The Wake Forest Demon Deacons emerged victorious with a commanding 80-51 win over the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. The Demon Deacons now stand with an impressive record, while the Yellow Jackets face a setback in their season tally.

At Hank McCamish Pavilion, the visiting Wake Forest team showcased a dominant performance from start to finish. The first half set the tone for the game, as Wake Forest put up an impressive 46 points compared to Georgia Tech's 20. The second half saw a more balanced scoring effort but still favored Wake Forest with an additional 34 points against Georgia Tech's 31.


The Demon Deacons' offense was firing on all cylinders, shooting at a solid 46 percent from the field and an exceptional perfect rate from the free-throw line. Their two-point attempts were particularly effective, converting at a high rate of 57 percent which contributed significantly to their total score. Moreover, they dominated inside scoring with a remarkable 46 points in paint.


Defensively, Wake Forest was just as formidable; they racked up five blocks and eight steals over the course of play. This defensive pressure translated into eight points off turnovers for them. Additionally, they outrebounded their opponents by securing 42 rebounds to Georgia Tech's 31.


Wake Forest also displayed excellent ball movement and teamwork throughout the game evidenced by their tally of seventeen assists which is indicative of their cohesive play style and unselfish approach on offense.


On Georgia Tech's side, despite facing tough opposition, they managed to make fourteen free throws out of nineteen attempts resulting in approximately seventy-four percent accuracy from the line. They also fought hard defensively with two blocks and three steals but struggled offensively throughout most parts of this conference game.


Looking ahead for Wake Forest fans: The next challenge will be against North Carolina State Wolfpack at Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum on February 10th at four o'clock PM Eastern Time.
