Notre Dame Fighting Irish VS Wake Forest Demon Deacons

The Demon Deacons came out strong in the first half, putting up an impressive 43 points compared to the Fighting Irish's 38. However, momentum shifted as Wake Forest could only add another 22 points to their tally in the second half while Notre Dame surged ahead with an additional 32 points. Despite this setback, Wake Forest showcased some solid statistics throughout the game.

Wake Forest's performance was marked by their defensive efforts which resulted in five blocks and three steals. On offense, they managed to distribute well with eleven assists and capitalized on fast break opportunities by scoring six fast break points. Their shooting from inside was efficient; they made half of their two-point attempts and scored a total of twenty-six points in paint.

However, free throws were crucial for both teams; Wake Forest shot an excellent eighty percent from the line but only had ten attempts compared to Notre Dame's twenty-two attempts at an eighty-six percent completion rate. This disparity proved significant towards the final outcome.

The Demon Deacons also demonstrated strength under the basket by grabbing thirty-eight rebounds—eight offensive and thirty defensive ones—which contributed to seven second-chance points. Yet turnovers were a concern for Wake Forest as they gave up twelve possessions which led to seven points off turnovers for Notre Dame.

Notre Dame capitalized on these opportunities and finished strong despite shooting only thirty-eight percent from field goal range overall. Their ability to draw fouls played into their hands as they made nineteen free throws contributing significantly to their final score of seventy.

Looking ahead after this tough loss on enemy territory, The Wake Forest Demon Deacons will regroup as they prepare for their next challenge against Virginia Tech Hokies at Cassell Coliseum located in Blacksburg VA on March 2nd at 5:30 PM Eastern Time.
