Huskies and Cougars Set for Showdown at Alaska Airlines Arena

As the Washington Huskies prepare to face off against their rivals, the Washington State Cougars, fans are buzzing with anticipation for what promises to be a thrilling encounter at the Alaska Airlines Arena. The Huskies have been on an impressive run, showcasing their ability to close out games with precision and tenacity.

Washington Huskies VS Washington State Cougars

In their last outing on December 22nd against Eastern Washington Eagles, WASH emerged victorious with a score of 73-66. Despite being tied six times and experiencing six lead changes throughout the game, WASH demonstrated resilience by maintaining a higher field goal percentage of 44 percent compared to EWU's 42 percent. Their performance from beyond the arc was particularly noteworthy as they hit an impressive 40 percent of their three-point attempts.

The Huskies' defense was also commendable; they recorded five blocks and five steals while capitalizing on turnovers by scoring 14 points off them. Furthermore, they showed dominance in second-chance points with a total of 16 – an area that could prove crucial against WSU.

WASH's recent triumph over Gonzaga Bulldogs on December 10th further solidifies their status as formidable opponents. They managed to topple the seventh-ranked Bulldogs by putting up a strong defensive front that resulted in six blocks and limited Gonzaga's three-point shooting to just 28 percent.

However, it would be remiss not to acknowledge WSU's capabilities. The Cougars will come into this game looking to disrupt WASH's rhythm and will rely heavily on their own strengths which include fast break execution – something that WASH must be prepared for.

The upcoming clash is more than just another game; it is about state pride and bragging rights. The Huskies have shown time and again that they can rise above challenges when playing at home – an advantage they'll look forward to leveraging once more.

Looking ahead, fans should mark their calendars for February 3rd when these two teams lock horns at Alaska Airlines Arena in Seattle. Tip-off is scheduled for February 4th at (9:00 PM ET), (6:00 PM PT). For those unable to attend in person, you can catch all the action live on Pac-12 Network where every dribble, pass, and shot promises edge-of-the-seat excitement as these two rivals battle it out on the court.
