In their last game against Boise State Broncos, the Cougars emerged victorious with a five-point lead, finishing at 66 points compared to the Broncos' 61. This win was characterized by a solid defensive effort that included six steals and two blocks, complemented by an offense that managed a 43 percent field goal rate and an impressive 78 percent from the free-throw line. However, turnovers were an issue as they recorded ten in total.

The previous game saw a less favorable outcome for the Cougars as they fell short against Santa Clara Broncos with 61 points to Santa Clara's 69. Despite this loss, there were positive takeaways including five blocks and maintaining a steady free throw percentage of 71 percent.

Perhaps most notable was Washington State's dominant performance against Grambling State Tigers where they secured an emphatic win with 83 points over Grambling's 65. The Cougars showcased their offensive prowess with a remarkable field goal percentage of 56 percent and three-point shooting at fifty percent efficiency.

Looking ahead to their game in Salt Lake City, it is evident that maintaining strong defense while reducing turnovers will be key for Washington State. Their ability to convert from beyond the arc could also play a significant role given Utah’s home-court advantage.
