Cougars Claws Out for Redemption at CU Events Center Showdown

As the Washington State Cougars prepare to face off against the Colorado Buffaloes at the CU Events Center, fans are eager to see if their team can bounce back from recent performances. The Cougars have had a challenging stretch in their last few games, and as they head into enemy territory on December 31st, all eyes will be on them to turn the tide.

In their most recent game against Utah Utes, the Cougars struggled defensively, allowing 80 points while only scoring 58 themselves. Their field goal percentage was a low 31 percent and even more concerning was their three-point percentage which stood at just 20 percent. Despite grabbing an impressive total of 51 rebounds, they were unable to convert these opportunities into points on the scoreboard.

The game prior offered a glimmer of hope with a victory over Boise State Broncos where they managed to score 66 points with improved shooting percentages: 43 percent from the field and a decent showing from beyond the arc at 29 percent. However, turnovers continue to plague them with double-digit giveaways in each of their last three games.

The matchup against Santa Clara Broncos highlighted areas for improvement as well; despite securing more rebounds (44) than Santa Clara's (36), Washington State still fell short by eight points. A troubling assist-to-turnover ratio of just 0.6 indicates that ball movement and decision-making need tightening up if they're going to outplay Colorado.

Playing away from home is always tough but doing so in Boulder adds another layer of difficulty given Colorado's strong fan support and altitude advantage which often plays into home court advantage.

Fans can catch this critical end-of-year clash live on Pac-12 Network or attend in person at CU Events Center in Boulder, CO when it tips off at local venue time (US/Mountain) on December 31st. Will Washington State close out the year with a much-needed win? Only time will tell if they can harness their potential and execute under pressure.
