Oregon Ducks VS Washington State Cougars

At Matthew Knight Arena, fans witnessed a game that was as much about resilience as it was about basketball. The Washington State Cougars fought valiantly but ultimately fell short against a determined Oregon Ducks team. Despite trailing at halftime with an equal score of 32 for both teams, the second half proved challenging for the visitors.

The Cougars showcased their ability to penetrate defenses by scoring 42 points in the paint and securing 13 second-chance points. Their two-point shooting was notably efficient at 56 percent from inside the arc. However, they struggled beyond it, converting only three out of fourteen attempts from three-point range—a mere 21 percent success rate.

Defensively, Washington State managed to block three shots and steal possession six times throughout the contest. They also demonstrated tenacity on both ends of the court by collecting a total of 26 rebounds—16 defensive and seven offensive—while adding five assists to their collective effort.

Despite these efforts, turnovers were a significant issue for Washington State as they gave up possession seventeen times which led to fourteen points off turnovers for Oregon. In contrast, Oregon capitalized on their opportunities with better ball handling resulting in only eleven turnovers and seventeen points off those Cougar mistakes.

Oregon's performance was marked by superior field goal shooting at approximately 52 percent overall and an impressive two-point field goal percentage of nearly 66 percent. They also matched Washington State's free throw accuracy with both teams making seven out of eight attempts from the line—an excellent rate close to 88 percent.

The Ducks' offense flew high with sixteen assists contributing significantly to their scoring output while defensively they gathered nine steals indicating active hands on defense throughout this intense matchup.

As fans look forward to future games, attention turns back home where Washington State will host Utah Utes at Beasley Coliseum in Pullman on December fourth at nine PM Eastern Time (six PM Pacific). This upcoming game will be broadcast nationally on ESPNU channel two hundred eight where Cougar supporters can tune in hoping for a return to winning ways.
