Can Washington State Cougars Extend Their Winning Streak Against California Golden Bears?

As the Washington State Cougars prepare to host the California Golden Bears at Beasley Coliseum, fans are buzzing with anticipation. The Cougars have been on a commendable trajectory, and their recent performances suggest that they could very well continue their winning ways.

Washington State Cougars VS California Golden Bears

Looking back at the game on December 22nd against Boise State Broncos, the Cougars emerged victorious with a score of 66-61. It was a hard-fought battle where both halves ended with WSU scoring 33 points. Their resilience was evident as they managed to secure more rebounds (40) than their opponents (37), and their field goal percentage stood at 43 percent compared to the Broncos' 36 percent. This victory showcased WSU's ability to maintain composure and leverage home-court advantage.

In another notable performance on December 16th against Santa Clara Broncos in Phoenix, despite being away from home, WSU put up an impressive fight but fell short by eight points, ending the game at 61-69. They struggled slightly with field goal accuracy at only 33 percent but made up for it with defensive plays, including five blocks and five steals.

However, it was during their encounter with Grambling State Tigers on December 11th that WSU truly shone. Dominating from start to finish in front of a home crowd in Pullman, they secured an emphatic win of 83-65. The team's offensive prowess was on full display as they shot an impressive field goal percentage of 56 percent and sunk half of their three-point attempts.

The upcoming clash against CAL presents another opportunity for WSU to assert its dominance. With an assist-turnover ratio better than CAL's in previous games and higher percentages across key statistics like field goals made and points off turnovers demonstrated in past performances, there is reason for optimism among Cougar fans.

The Golden Bears will need to be wary of WSU's ability to convert opportunities into fast break points – something that has been a consistent strength for the Cougars this season – as well as their tenacity under pressure which has seen them out-rebound opponents consistently.

As we look ahead towards February 16th when these two teams face off at Beasley Coliseum at what will be an exciting late-night showdown starting at 7:00 PM PST (3:00 AM GMT), fans can catch all the action live on Pac-12 Network. Will Washington State continue its ascent or will California disrupt their momentum? Only time will tell if WSU can capitalize on its recent form and extend its winning streak before an eager home crowd.
