Mountaineers to Battle Red Storm at WVU Coliseum in Men's Basketball Duel

As the West Virginia Mountaineers gear up to host the St. John's Red Storm at the WVU Coliseum, fans are bracing for what promises to be an electrifying Men's Basketball game. The Mountaineers, coming off a nail-biting victory against Bellarmine with a final score of 62-58 on November 26, are looking to capitalize on their home-court advantage and continue their winning ways.

In their last outing, WVU showcased a resilient defense and an offense that found its rhythm in the second half. Despite shooting only 41 percent from the field and a paltry 19 percent from beyond the arc, they managed to secure a win thanks to their impressive free-throw percentage of 81 and dominance on the defensive glass with 31 rebounds.

The Mountaineers' performance was not without its flaws; turnovers were a concern as they gave up possession 14 times. However, they compensated for this with six blocks and nine assists, indicating that when they click, they can be both formidable defensively and efficient offensively.

On the other side of the court stands SJU who will undoubtedly pose a challenge for WVU. The Red Storm have shown themselves to be tenacious competitors this season but will face an uphill battle against WVU’s staunch defense.

Looking back at previous games provides further insight into how WVU might fare in this matchup. Against Virginia Cavaliers on November 22 during halftime of Beach Division - Consolation Game, points were hard to come by for both teams; however, it was evident that offensive rebounds were crucial for keeping possessions alive – something WVU excelled at with seven offensive boards leading to five second-chance points despite trailing behind by three points at halftime.

Moreover, during their encounter with SMU Mustangs on November 21 where they fell short by twelve points (58-70), it became clear that maintaining ball control is vital as turnovers proved costly for them once again.

With these lessons learned from past performances combined with home support roaring them on come December 2nd at midnight EST (7 PM local time), there is every reason to believe that if West Virginia can tighten up ball handling while maintaining defensive intensity and rebounding prowess – particularly against SJUs likely aggressive play – victory could well be within reach.

Fans eager not just witness but feel every dribble drive towards triumph should make sure tune into ESPN2 or head down Coliseum Morgantown where action unfolds live under lights!
