In a game that saw six ties and four lead changes, the West Virginia Mountaineers showcased their resilience at WVU Coliseum. After trailing with 24 points in the first half compared to Missouri State's 30, the Mountaineers rallied back with an impressive second-half performance, scoring 43 points to secure their win.

The Mountaineers' comeback was fueled by a balanced attack on both ends of the court. Defensively, they matched Missouri State's six blocks and managed two steals. On offense, they made seven three-point shots out of twenty-one attempts for a three-point percentage of thirty-three percent. Their field goal percentage stood at thirty-five percent from sixty-three attempts.

Free throws were a significant factor for West Virginia as they capitalized on these opportunities by making sixteen out of twenty attempts, achieving an eighty percent success rate from the line. This sharpshooting contrasted with Missouri State's fifty-seven percent free throw accuracy.

West Virginia also dominated inside with twenty-eight points in paint and edged out Missouri State in second-chance points seventeen to eleven. The home team excelled on rebounds as well, grabbing forty-six compared to forty by Missouri State; thirteen offensive rebounds contributed greatly to their second-chance efforts.

The Bears put up a strong fight despite falling short in this contest. They shot thirty-five percent from the field and thirty-one percent from beyond the arc but struggled more than West Virginia at free throws making only four out of seven attempts.

Missouri State was led by their ability to convert turnovers into points scoring thirteen off turnovers while maintaining an assists turnover ratio of three point five which speaks volumes about their ball movement during play.
