Mountaineers Set to Host Kansas Jayhawks at WVU Coliseum in Morgantown Showdown

As the West Virginia Mountaineers prepare to host the Kansas Jayhawks at the WVU Coliseum, fans are buzzing with anticipation for what promises to be a thrilling encounter. The Mountaineers have been showing formidable form lately, and their recent performances suggest they could very well dominate their upcoming game against the Jayhawks.

Kansas Jayhawks VS West Virginia Mountaineers

In their last outing on December 23rd, West Virginia displayed an offensive masterclass against Toledo Rockets, securing a convincing 91-81 victory. Their shooting was particularly impressive; they hit over half of their field goals and were lethal from the free-throw line with a 79 percent success rate. This kind of scoring efficiency will be crucial when facing Kansas.

The Mountaineers' defense also stood out in that game, as they managed more blocks and steals than Toledo. Such defensive solidity will be essential to contain the Jayhawks' offense. Moreover, West Virginia's ability to control rebounds – both offensively and defensively – gave them numerous second-chance points which could again play a pivotal role in their strategy.

However, it wasn't all smooth sailing for WVU; just two days prior on December 21st against Radford Highlanders, they narrowly missed out on victory by one point in a tight contest that ended 65-66. Despite this setback, there were positive takeaways from that performance too. The team showed resilience by fighting back after being down at halftime and nearly clinching the win with improved second-half performance.

West Virginia's tenacity was further tested when they faced UMass Minutemen on December 16th at MassMutual Center where despite trailing early on, they mounted an impressive comeback in the second half but ultimately fell short with a final score of 79-87. This loss highlighted areas for improvement such as reducing personal fouls and turnovers which could prove decisive against Kansas.

Looking ahead to January 20th’s clash with KU at home ground where fan support is always electric should give WVU an extra boost of confidence. The Mountaineers have shown that even when faced with adversity or trailing behind during games; they possess both offensive firepower and defensive grit needed for comebacks.

For fans eager to witness this matchup between West Virginia Mountaineers and Kansas Jayhawks live can tune into ESPN+ online platform starting at 4:00 PM Eastern Time from Morgantown's own WVU Coliseum where every dribble pass shot block rebound will surely keep spectators on edge until final buzzer sounds!
