Mountaineers and Longhorns Set for Moody Center Showdown

As the West Virginia Mountaineers prepare to face the Texas Longhorns at the Moody Center, fans are eager to see if their team can replicate the success from their last game on December 23rd. The Mountaineers displayed a dominant performance against Toledo Rockets, securing a 91-81 victory that was as much about offense as it was about defense.

WVU's shooting was on point, with an impressive 52 percent field goal percentage and an even more striking 62 percent from two-point range. Their free throw accuracy stood at 79 percent, which could be crucial in close encounters like the upcoming one against Texas. Additionally, WVU showed they could distribute the ball effectively with 17 assists and maintain control with fewer turnovers than points off turnovers – a testament to their tactical discipline.

The Mountaineers' rebounding ability also deserves mention; they outrebounded Toledo by one but will need to be vigilant against Texas who might pose a bigger challenge on the boards. WVU's defensive prowess was evident with four blocks and five steals in their last game, something that will undoubtedly unsettle any opponent.

However, it wasn't all smooth sailing for WVU in recent games. A narrow loss to Radford Highlanders (66-65) just two days before beating Toledo highlighted some vulnerabilities. Despite shooting well from two-point range (52 percent), they struggled beyond the arc at only 19 percent three-point shooting efficiency. This inconsistency could be exploited by a well-prepared Longhorns side.

Looking ahead to February 10th's clash, it is imperative that WVU leverages its strengths while addressing areas of concern shown in past performances. The Mountaineers have demonstrated they can score heavily inside but must ensure their perimeter game doesn't falter when faced with TEX’s defense.

The upcoming game promises excitement and is poised for another high-scoring affair if both teams play to potential. Fans should expect WVU’s offensive tenacity coupled with strategic defense as key factors if they are to emerge victorious away from home.

For those bleeding gold and blue wanting to catch every dribble and dunk of this anticipated matchup – mark your calendars for February 10th at 3:00 PM ET when West Virginia takes on Texas at Austin's Moody Center. The action will be broadcast live on LHN channel number 677; don't miss what promises to be an enthralling encounter between these collegiate titans!
