In front of an energetic crowd of 9,569 spectators, the West Virginia Mountaineers delivered an impressive performance against their conference rivals. The game was marked by solid shooting from both teams, but it was the home side's efficiency that stood out. The Mountaineers shot an impressive 48 percent from both field goal range and two-point attempts, while also hitting half of their three-point shots.

The offensive efforts were complemented by a robust defensive display as well; West Virginia managed to block five shots and steal possession twice during play. Their rebounding was particularly dominant – they outrebounded the Knights by six boards overall with 42 rebounds to UCF's 36.

West Virginia's teamwork shone through in their assist tally – they racked up 15 assists over UCF's 11, demonstrating effective ball movement and selflessness on offense. Despite committing more turnovers than UCF with a total of 13 compared to seven for the visitors, West Virginia maintained control throughout most of the game.

One area where both teams showed parity was in fast break points: West Virginia scored just two points less than UCF in this category with eleven fast break points for themselves. However, they edged out slightly ahead in second-chance points at seven against thirteen for UCF.

The free throw line also saw plenty of action from both sides; however, it was here that West Virginia capitalized on more opportunities. They made eighteen free throws at a rate of sixty-nine percent compared to twelve made by UCF at sixty-seven percent accuracy.

As fans look ahead after this strong showing from their team, they can mark their calendars for another exciting matchup as the West Virginia Mountaineers will face off against Iowa State Cyclones at James H. Hilton Coliseum on February 24th at 1:00 PM CT. This upcoming game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN2 channel number two hundred nine for fans who wish to follow along live as it unfolds.
