The West Virginia Mountaineers started off with determination, scoring 29 points in the first half but were outdone by the Bearcats who put up 36 points. In the second half, WVU added another 27 points to their score but couldn't keep pace as Cincinnati surged ahead with an additional 56 points. Despite WVU's efforts to close the gap, they struggled against Cincinnati's robust defense and efficient scoring.

WVU's shooting was below par compared to their opponents; they made only 21 field goals out of 54 attempts resulting in a field goal percentage of just 39 percent. From beyond the arc, they fared slightly better hitting eight out of nineteen three-point attempts which translates to a three-point shooting percentage of about 42 percent. However, their free throw performance left much room for improvement as they managed only six successful free throws from ten attempts (60 percent).

On defense and on the boards, WVU recorded three blocks and secured a total of twenty-three rebounds – evenly split with ten offensive and ten defensive rebounds. They also managed six steals throughout the game but committed fourteen personal fouls along with one coach technical foul and one player technical foul.

Offensively speaking, WVU tallied eight assists but this was overshadowed by their sixteen turnovers which contributed to ten points for Cincinnati off those turnovers. Their assist-to-turnover ratio stood at a lowly point fifty-seven.

In contrast to WVU’s struggles on both ends of the court, Cincinnati showcased superior efficiency across various aspects of play. The home team boasted an impressive field goal percentage nearing fifty-nine percent including an outstanding eighty-two percent from two-point range which significantly contributed to their forty-eight points in paint dominance.

Cincinnati also excelled defensively with five blocks while accumulating thirty-seven rebounds – twenty-six defensive and eleven offensive ones – along with ten steals that led them to score twenty-seven points off turnovers taken from West Virginia Mountaineers’ mistakes.

As fans look forward towards future matchups for West Virginia Mountaineers basketball team after this tough loss away from home soil against formidable opponents like Cincinnati Bearcats; it is clear that there are areas requiring attention if they wish success moving forward into next games scheduled during this season’s play calendar.
