Mountaineers' Paint Struggles as Wildcats Roar at McKale Center

First Half


The first half saw the Mountaineers grappling with offensive execution, managing only 23 points. Treysen Eaglestaff contributed significantly with his shooting accuracy, hitting 50 percent from the field and scoring 10 points overall. However, WVU's inability to capitalize on fast breaks was evident as they scored just three fast break points compared to Arizona's dominant performance.


Second Half


In the second half, DJ Thomas tried to spark some momentum for WVU by adding four points and grabbing three rebounds. Yet, it was not enough as Arizona extended their lead further with efficient shooting and strong defensive plays. The Cats' defense limited West Virginia's opportunities in the paint where they shot just 48 percent.

Arizona showcased superior ball movement with an impressive assist-to-turnover ratio of 4:1 compared to WVU’s even ratio of assists to turnovers. The Wildcats capitalized on turnovers effectively by scoring eight points off them while maintaining control over their own possessions.
