The game, held at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas, saw the Western Kentucky team struggle to find their rhythm against a formidable Florida Atlantic defense. Despite their efforts, Western Kentucky's shooting percentages were low across the board. They made just 18 out of 66 field goal attempts resulting in a mere 27 percent success rate from the field. Their three-point attempts didn't fare much better as they converted only six out of 29 shots for an accuracy of roughly 21 percent.

The Hilltoppers did manage to secure some advantages during play; they excelled in fast break situations scoring an impressive total of 16 points and capitalized on turnovers by adding another 11 points to their tally. However, these moments were not enough to close the gap created by Florida Atlantic's robust offensive display.

On defense, Western Kentucky managed eight steals and blocked one shot but this was overshadowed by their own turnovers which totaled fourteen for the game. Rebounding was one area where they showed significant effort pulling down a total of thirty-seven boards with eleven being on offense giving them second-chance opportunities that resulted in ten additional points.

Florida Atlantic's performance was marked by high efficiency inside as they made an outstanding seventy percent from two-point range and dominated inside scoring forty-six points in paint. Their overall field goal percentage stood at forty-nine percent which included making five out of twenty-six three-pointers.

The home team also had superior ball distribution ending up with thirteen assists compared to five from Western Kentucky and displayed strong defensive prowess accumulating ten steals and two blocks throughout the game.
