Wyoming Cowboys to Battle San Jose State Spartans in Arena-Auditorium Basketball Showdown

As the Wyoming Cowboys gear up for their next challenge against the San Jose State Spartans at the Arena-Auditorium, fans are eager to see if their team can bounce back from recent performances. The upcoming game, scheduled for January 3rd, is not just another date on the calendar; it's a chance for redemption and a statement of intent.

The WYO's last outing on December 22nd against UTEP Miners ended in disappointment with a score of 67-78. Despite showing promise with an impressive free throw percentage of 88 and securing 35 rebounds, they struggled from beyond the arc, hitting only 23 percent of their three-point attempts. The turnovers were also concerning; with 16 in total and an assist-to-turnover ratio below one (0.64), ball security was clearly an issue.

In contrast, during their December 21st semifinal game against South Dakota State Jackrabbits, WYO demonstrated what they're capable of when things click into place. They emerged victorious with a scoreline reflecting their dominance: 78-65. Their field goal percentage stood at a solid 51 percent from two-point range and an even more impressive three-point completion rate at half that number – showcasing both inside strength and perimeter sharpness.

However, consistency is key in basketball, and this is where WYO needs to focus. Their performance on December 17th against Weber State Wildcats saw them fall short despite shooting nearly as well as their opponents from the field (49 percent). The rebounding battle was lost too – only grabbing 25 compared to Weber State's higher tally – which ultimately contributed to their downfall in that tight contest which ended at a close scoreline of 71-84.

Looking ahead to face SJSU Spartans, Wyoming must capitalize on home-court advantage within the familiar confines of Arena-Auditorium. Rebounding will be crucial; dominating the glass could be decisive in controlling the game's tempo and limiting second-chance points for SJSU.

The Spartans will undoubtedly come prepared but if WYO can tighten up defensively while maintaining offensive efficiency seen in flashes throughout previous games – particularly by improving ball movement leading to better shot selection – they stand a good chance of coming out on top.

Fans should mark their calendars for January third when these two teams clash at eight-thirty PM Mountain Time under Laramie’s bright lights at Arena-Auditorium. For those unable to attend in person, you can catch all the action live via internet broadcast on MW Network.
