The home crowd of 6,968 witnessed an intense battle where lead changes occurred five times and scores were tied seven times. The Wyoming Cowboys started strong with a first-half performance that saw them put up 35 points against the Rams' 21. However, in the second half, momentum shifted as Colorado State outscored Wyoming by scoring 36 points to their 23.

The Cowboys showcased their defensive skills with four blocks and six steals throughout the game. They also demonstrated efficiency from two-point range, matching Colorado State's two-point shooting percentage at approximately 55 percent each. Both teams scored an equal number of points in paint (34) and from second-chance opportunities (6), indicating how evenly matched they were inside.

Wyoming's field goal percentage was lower than that of Colorado State at around 40 percent compared to approximately 45 percent for their opponents; however, they managed to secure victory through critical plays and maintaining composure under pressure. Despite struggling from beyond the arc with only about a quarter of three-point attempts made compared to Colorado State's near one-third conversion rate, it was enough for Wyoming to edge out their rivals by one point.

On offense, both teams had similar assists turnover ratios with Wyoming slightly better at around eight-tenths compared to seven-tenths for Colorado State. This small margin reflected on turnovers as well; while both teams committed fouls fourteen times without any foul outs or ejections, Wyoming turned over possession ten times whereas Colorado State did so eighteen times.

Looking ahead after this nail-biting conference game win against their rivals from Fort Collins, fans can anticipate another exciting matchup when the Wyoming Cowboys travel to face off against UNLV Runnin' Rebels at Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas on January twenty-fifth at nine PM Mountain Time. This upcoming contest will be broadcasted nationally on CBS Sports Network channel two hundred twenty-one for fans unable to make it down south but still wishing to follow along live as their team takes on another conference opponent.
