The Arena-Auditorium in Laramie was abuzz as the Wyoming Cowboys hosted the San Jose State Spartans. The home team displayed resilience and tactical acumen to secure victory. With both teams locked in an intense battle, it was the Cowboys who emerged victorious by a narrow margin.

The first half saw the Cowboys trailing with 35 points against the Spartans' robust 47-point performance. However, as play resumed after halftime, Wyoming showcased their determination by adding 40 points to their tally while holding San Jose State to just 26 additional points. This remarkable turnaround was pivotal for their win.

Wyoming's success can be attributed to several key factors throughout the game. Their free throw accuracy was exceptional; they converted 92 percent of their attempts from the line, making 23 out of 25 free throws. This sharpshooting proved crucial in such a close encounter.

Moreover, defensive efforts played a significant role as well; Wyoming managed six steals and one block over the course of play. Offensively, they were able to capitalize on turnovers better than San Jose State did—scoring eight points off turnovers compared to only four by their opponents.

On individual performances for Wyoming, there were noteworthy contributions across various aspects of play including assists where they slightly edged out San Jose State with ten assists versus nine from their counterparts.

San Jose State put up an impressive fight themselves; they recorded seven blocks and two steals defensively while also achieving higher field goal percentages than Wyoming—44 percent overall and 39 percent from beyond three-point range compared to Wyoming's respective stats of 42 percent and 33 percent.

Despite these efforts from San Jose State including double-digit three-pointers made (12), it wasn't enough against a determined Cowboy squad that held firm defensively when it mattered most and executed efficiently on offense down the stretch.

Looking ahead for fans of The University of Wyoming men's basketball team: The next challenge awaits on January 6th when they face off against New Mexico Lobos at The Pit in Albuquerque.
