Clash at Thomas & Mack Center: Wyoming Cowboys to Face UNLV Runnin' Rebels

As the Wyoming Cowboys prepare to face off against the UNLV Runnin' Rebels at the Thomas & Mack Center, fans are eager for what promises to be an electrifying game. The WYO's recent performance has been a rollercoaster, but there's reason to believe they could pull off a surprise in Las Vegas.

In their last outing on December 22nd against UTEP Miners, the Cowboys fell short despite a valiant effort, scoring 67 points. Their shooting from beyond the arc was lackluster at 23 percent and overall field goal percentage stood at just 34 percent. However, they excelled at free throws with an impressive 88 percent accuracy. This prowess from the line could be crucial in tight situations against UNLV.

The WYO's resilience is evident when we look back at their game on December 21st during Semifinals - Game 1 where they secured a victory over South Dakota State Jackrabbits with a score of 78-65. They showcased balanced offense and defense with a field goal percentage of nearly 51 percent and converting half of their three-point attempts. Moreover, their rebounding was dominant with total rebounds clocking in at 43.

However, it wasn't all smooth sailing for WYO; on December 17th against Weber State Wildcats, they were outscored in points in paint and second-chance points which contributed to their loss of 71-84. Despite this setback, there were positives to take away – like maintaining nearly a perfect free throw percentage (80 percent) and showing efficiency from downtown (39 percent).

The upcoming game will demand that WYO capitalize on these strengths while addressing weaknesses shown in past performances. Rebounding will be key; if they can control the boards as effectively as they did against SDST and improve ball movement leading to quality shots inside the arc while keeping up their free throw efficiency – there’s potential for an upset.

UNLV should not be underestimated though; any lapses by WYO could easily be exploited by such formidable opponents who will have home-court advantage.

Fans can witness whether Wyoming Cowboys can ride high or if UNLV Runnin' Rebels will defend their turf come February 4th at Thomas & Mack Center starting at 8:00 PM ET. The action-packed encounter will also be broadcasted nationally on CBS Sports Network channel number is available for those who prefer watching from home or elsewhere.
