Cowboys Corralled by Runnin' Rebels at Thomas & Mack Center

The Wyoming Cowboys, with a record of 0-0, faced off against the UNLV Runnin' Rebels, also at 0-0, in a game that ended with the scoreboard reading 48-62. The Cowboys were unable to secure victory on the road at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.

From tip-off to final buzzer, the Wyoming Cowboys struggled to find their rhythm against a tenacious UNLV defense. The Cowboys managed to put up 23 points in the first half and slightly improved with 25 in the second but fell short as they watched their opponents tally up an equal 31 points in both halves. Despite shooting a respectable 52 percent from two-point range, Wyoming's overall field goal percentage was just 35 percent due to their struggles beyond the arc where they shot only 16 percent.

The team's effort on rebounds was noteworthy as they grabbed a total of 42 rebounds – eleven offensive and thirty-one defensive. However, this silver lining was overshadowed by other aspects of their game; notably turnovers which tallied up to fourteen for Wyoming compared to just four for UNLV. This discrepancy played into UNLV's hands as they capitalized with twenty-one points off turnovers.

Wyoming did show some resilience inside with twenty-four points coming from within the paint and securing nine second-chance points. Their free throw performance stood at sixty-seven percent accuracy but it wasn't enough when compared to other facets of their play that lagged behind.

On defense, Wyoming managed three blocks but failed to record any steals throughout forty minutes of play – an area where UNLV excelled with ten steals contributing significantly towards fast break opportunities and scoring nine fast break points.

UNLV’s balanced attack proved too much for Wyoming; not only did they outscore them but also out-assisted them fourteen assists to nine while maintaining better control over ball possession reflected by an impressive assist-to-turnover ratio of three point five compared to Wyoming’s zero point seventy-five.

Looking ahead after this tough outing, fans can mark their calendars for another chance for redemption when The New Mexico Lobos visit Arena-Auditorium in Laramie on February sixth at six-thirty PM Mountain Time. Supporters can tune into MW Network via internet broadcast networks for live coverage as The Cowboys look forward toward bouncing back on home turf.
