Can Wyoming Cowboys Outmaneuver San Jose State Spartans at Provident Credit Union Event Center?

The Cowboys' previous outing on December 22 against the UTEP Miners ended in a disappointing 67-78 loss. Despite a strong free throw performance with an impressive 88 percent accuracy and securing 35 rebounds, WYO struggled with three-point shots, hitting only 23 percent. This lack of efficiency from beyond the arc coupled with a high turnover count of 16 proved costly.

However, looking back at their December 21 victory over South Dakota State Jackrabbits in the semifinals provides a more encouraging picture. The Cowboys notched up an impressive win with a score of 78-65. Their field goal percentage stood firm at 51 percent and they excelled in three-point shooting with an outstanding conversion rate of 50 percent. Moreover, they dominated rebounds by securing 43 compared to Jackrabbits' mere total of 28.

In contrast to these mixed results, WYO's performance against Weber State Wildcats on December 17 showcased resilience despite falling short by a score of 71-84. They maintained commendable field goal and free throw percentages (49 and 80 respectively) but were outplayed in points from turnovers and second-chance points.

The Spartans should not be underestimated as opponents; however, if WYO can replicate their semifinal form rather than that seen against UTEP or Weber State Wildcats, they stand a good chance of emerging victorious. A key factor will be whether they can improve their three-point shooting consistency and manage turnovers better than in past games.

Wyoming fans should expect their team to focus on tightening defense around the perimeter while also exploiting any weaknesses within SJSU's lineup through strategic assists and fast break opportunities.

Mark your calendars for February 17 when Wyoming takes on San Jose State at Provident Credit Union Event Center at what will be an intense showdown starting at February's late hour due to time zone differences – tip-off is set for February's late hour local time (February's early hour MT). Fans won't want to miss this game broadcasted live on NBCS-BA channel number:696; it could very well dictate how Wyoming positions itself for future success this season.
