Can the Wyoming Cowboys Lasso Victory Against UNLV Runnin' Rebels?

As the Wyoming Cowboys prepare to host the UNLV Runnin' Rebels at Arena-Auditorium, fans are eager to see if their team can bounce back from a string of challenging games. The upcoming clash on February 27th is more than just another game; it's an opportunity for redemption.

The Cowboys have had a rollercoaster season, with their recent performance against Utah State Aggies on February 15th showcasing both their strengths and weaknesses. Despite scoring an impressive 76 points, they fell short of victory due to defensive lapses that allowed the Aggies to score 84 points. The Cowboys demonstrated tenacity in offensive rebounds and second-chance points but were hindered by personal fouls and a lack of blocks.

In contrast, when facing off against New Mexico Lobos earlier this month on February 7th, the Cowboys put up a valiant fight but were outpaced by the Lobos' fast breaks and higher field goal percentage. The final scoreline read 73-91 in favor of New Mexico, leaving Wyoming fans longing for a turnaround.

However, it's not all doom and gloom for WYO supporters. When we look at UNLV's last home game against our very own Cowboys on February 4th, there is cause for optimism. Despite playing away from home turf at Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, WYO held UNLV to just 62 points while struggling offensively themselves with only 48 points scored. This defensive prowess could be key in the upcoming rematch.

The statistics suggest that if WYO can tighten up defensively like they did last time against UNLV – who managed only a meager free throw percentage – while also capitalizing on turnovers as they did before (scoring an impressive 21 points off turnovers), there is every chance that victory could be within reach.

WYO must focus on improving their assists turnover ratio which was superior during their previous encounter with UNLV compared to other games this season. By doing so and maintaining pressure on defense without fouling excessively – something that has been problematic recently – they stand a good chance of controlling the game pace.

Fans should expect an intense battle where every possession counts as both teams vie for conference supremacy. With home-court advantage this time around and lessons learned from past performances, WYO has every reason to believe they can emerge victorious.

Mark your calendars: The showdown between Wyoming Cowboys and UNLV Runnin' Rebels will take place at Arena-Auditorium in Laramie, WY on February 27th at precisely 7:00 PM Mountain Time (MT). Fans won't want to miss this pivotal matchup broadcast nationally on CBS Sports Network channel number two hundred twenty-one.
