Clune Arena Showdown: Air Force Falcons Host San Diego State Aztecs in Women's Basketball

As the Air Force Falcons prepare to host the San Diego State Aztecs at Clune Arena, fans are eager for what promises to be a captivating encounter in Women's Basketball. The Falcons, coming off a mixed bag of performances, have shown they can be both resilient and vulnerable.

Air Force Falcons VS San Diego State Aztecs

In their last home game on December 16 against Weber State Wildcats, the AFA displayed a commendable performance with a 70-58 victory. Their field goal percentage stood at 40 percent and they were particularly impressive from the free-throw line with an 80 percent success rate. This level of accuracy from the charity stripe could prove crucial against SDSU. Moreover, their three-point shooting was on target at 40 percent, which could stretch the Aztecs' defense if replicated.

However, it wasn't all smooth sailing for AFA; their December 21 game against SMU Mustangs exposed some defensive frailties as they conceded 75 points. The Mustangs dominated inside with an overwhelming 52 points in paint compared to AFA's modest tally of 16. This area will need tightening up if they are to contain SDSU's offense.

The Falcons' ability to force turnovers is another aspect that cannot go unnoticed – registering an impressive total of 15 steals in that same game. Yet this aggressive defense must be balanced with discipline as they committed a high number of personal fouls (21) during their win over Weber State.

Looking ahead to SDSU, it’s clear that maintaining intensity throughout all four quarters will be key for AFA; past games have seen them struggle in certain periods which could prove costly against higher-caliber opposition like SDSU.

The Aztecs themselves come into this matchup with their own set of strengths and weaknesses but expect them to challenge every shot and exploit any lapses in concentration from AFA’s side – something fans should watch closely during this encounter.

With anticipation building up for January 4th’s showdown at Clune Arena scheduled for an evening tip-off at Colorado Springs local time (6:30 PM MST), supporters should mark their calendars for what is expected to be an enthralling battle on court. Fans unable to attend can follow live updates or catch post-game highlights through various sports networks dedicated coverage of women's college basketball.
