The game was marked by strong defensive efforts from both sides. The Auburn Tigers showcased their agility on defense with an impressive total of 10 steals and blocked seven shots. Despite their tenacity, they committed 25 personal fouls over the course of the game but managed to avoid any foulouts or ejections.

Offensively, Auburn's performance was highlighted by their ability to capitalize on turnovers, scoring 23 points off their opponent's mistakes. They also demonstrated speed in transition, adding another 14 points through fast breaks. From beyond the arc, they shot an efficient rate rounding up to about half (44 percent), sinking seven three-pointers.

However, it was inside where they struggled; despite taking more two-point attempts than LSU (48 compared to LSU's 45), they only converted these into points at a rate of about one-third (35 percent). This contrasted sharply with LSU's more effective inside presence which resulted in them scoring significantly more points in paint (40).

LSU also had better overall shooting accuracy across all field goals with approximately half (46 percent) finding their mark compared to Auburn’s lower completion rate (38 percent). Additionally, while both teams were relatively even on free throw attempts—Auburn having made it to the line for a total of 16 shots—they trailed behind LSU who capitalized on such opportunities by making nearly all free throws attempted (85 percent).
