Baylor Bears Overcome Mountaineers at Foster Pavilion in Close Contest

The Baylor Bears, ranked 18th, edged out a victory against the 22nd-ranked Mountaineers with a final score of 65-58. The Bears now boast an impressive record, while the Mountaineers fall to a less favorable standing. In front of an enthusiastic crowd of 4,944 at Foster Pavilion in Waco, Texas, the game unfolded with both teams displaying competitive spirit and skill.

West Virginia Mountaineers VS Baylor Bears

The home team's performance was marked by efficient shooting and strong defense. The Baylor Bears shot an impressive 48 percent from the field and an even more notable 53 percent from two-point range. Their three-point shots were also on target with a solid 39 percent success rate. On defense, they managed to block five shots over the course of the game.

In contrast to their opponents' accuracy from close range, the West Virginia Mountaineers struggled to find their rhythm offensively. They finished with a mere 32 percent shooting from the field and only made five out of their twenty-three three-point attempts, translating into a lowly 22 percent completion rate for long-range efforts.

One key aspect that contributed significantly to Baylor's win was their ability to capitalize on turnovers. Despite committing nineteen turnovers themselves – four more than West Virginia – they scored fifteen points off turnovers compared to seventeen by the Mountaineers.

Rebounding was another area where Baylor excelled; they dominated with forty-one total rebounds against thirty-three by West Virginia. This included twenty-seven defensive boards which helped limit second-chance points for their opponents who managed thirteen compared to six by Baylor.

Assists were also telling of how well each team worked together; sixteen assists were recorded by Baylor players showing better ball distribution than West Virginia's thirteen assists throughout this tightly contested matchup.

Looking ahead for fans of the Baylor Bears: The next challenge awaits as they are scheduled as guests at Lloyd Noble Center in Norman against Oklahoma Sooners on February 14 at 6:00 PM Central Time. Followers can catch all action live online via ESPN+.
