The game was marked by numerous lead changes and ties, indicating how evenly matched both teams were throughout the contest. The BYU Cougars showcased their resilience and ability to perform under pressure, particularly during overtime where they outscored the Bengals 9-6 to secure their win.

The Cougars' performance was highlighted by their impressive defensive efforts, which included nine blocks and ten steals. This defensive prowess contributed significantly to their 21 points off turnovers. Offensively, they demonstrated efficiency inside with a two-point field goal percentage of 54 percent contributing to their total of 34 points in the paint.

BYU's players also showed strong teamwork with an outstanding total of 21 assists.
