50-82 was the final score as the Brigham Young University Cougars faced a challenging contest against the Oklahoma State Cowgirls. The Cougars now stand with an additional loss to their record, while the Cowgirls celebrate another victory. The game unfolded at Gallagher-Iba Arena, where 2,044 spectators witnessed a competitive matchup.

BYU Cougars VS Oklahoma State Cowgirls

The BYU Cougars struggled to find their rhythm early on, scoring only 8 points in the first quarter compared to the Cowgirls' 18. Despite picking up pace in subsequent quarters with 14 and 18 points respectively, they were outmatched by Oklahoma State's consistent scoring of 27 and 20 points. The final quarter saw both teams slow down, but it was too late for a comeback from BYU who added just 10 points against Oklahoma State's 17.

Offensively, BYU managed to convert only 35 percent of their field goals and were less effective from beyond the arc with a mere three-point shooting percentage of just 17 percent. Their free throw performance stood at an even split—50 percent—which further highlighted their struggle on offense this game. On defense, they gathered a total of six steals and two blocks but committed twenty personal fouls which may have disrupted their momentum.

The Cowgirls capitalized on turnovers with an impressive tally of thirty-eight points off turnovers compared to seventeen by BYU. They also dominated inside with forty-two points in paint underscoring their physical presence throughout the match-up. With eighteen steals and five blocks defensively coupled with sixty-one percent shooting from two-point range and forty-six percent overall field goal accuracy, Oklahoma State showcased superior execution on both ends of the court.

BYU did manage some positive stats despite the tough game; they outrebounded Oklahoma State by four rebounds (39-35) including eight offensive boards that contributed to second-chance opportunities resulting in eight second-chance points.

Looking ahead for Brigham Young University fans is another opportunity for redemption as they host Texas Tech Lady Raiders at Marriott Center in Provo. This encounter is scheduled for January 20th at noon local time (5:00 PM Eastern Time). Fans eager to support can catch live action broadcasted directly from Provo's own Marriott Center.
