Cincinnati Bearcats VS Oklahoma State Cowgirls

In front of 1,392 spectators at Fifth Third Arena, the home team displayed resilience and tactical acumen to overcome their opponents. The first quarter saw the Bearcats outscore the Cowgirls 12-9. Building on their momentum, they extended their lead by halftime with an additional 18 points to Oklahoma State's 16 in the second quarter. Despite being tied nine times and experiencing six lead changes throughout the contest, it was Cincinnati's ability to maintain composure that ultimately secured them this hard-fought win.

The statistics reveal a closely contested battle where every possession counted. The Bearcats capitalized on turnovers scoring 15 points off them compared to just six for the Cowgirls. They also outrebounded their opponents with a total of 39 rebounds; eight offensive and thirty-one defensive boards contributed significantly to maintaining possession and creating second-chance opportunities which yielded twelve crucial points.

Cincinnati's defense was formidable as well, registering seven steals over Oklahoma State’s six and blocking one shot attempt. Offensively, they were led by their field goal attempts totaling fifty-seven shots but only converting nineteen into scores reflecting a shooting percentage of thirty-three percent from the field.

Free throws were another critical aspect where Cincinnati held an advantage; they made fifteen out of twenty-two attempts giving them a sixty-eight percent completion rate which proved vital in such a close encounter.

Oklahoma State’s efforts were notable as well; they fought valiantly throughout all four quarters scoring seventeen free throws from twenty-three attempts (seventy-four percent). Their three-point shooting was slightly better than that of Cincinnati’s at twenty-nine percent making seven out of twenty-four attempts from beyond the arc.

As both teams committed seventeen personal fouls each, it was clear that neither side gave any quarter in this tightly contested match-up. However, it was perhaps Cincinnati’s ability to convert more effectively during fast breaks – scoring eight fast break points – that helped tip the balance in their favor against Oklahoma State’s five fast break points.
