Clemson Tigers Dominate at Leonard E. Merrell Center in Women's Basketball Showdown

In a display of offensive firepower, the Clemson Tigers outpaced the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions with a decisive 92-66 victory. The Clemson team's season record now stands at an impressive 1-0, while the Golden Lions fall to 0-1.

The game, held at the Leonard E. Merrell Center in Katy, Texas, saw the Clemson Tigers establish dominance early on by securing a ten-point lead by the end of the first quarter. The home team continued their momentum throughout each quarter with scores of 26, 21, 25 and finally closing with 20 points in the fourth quarter.


The Tigers' offense was particularly effective from beyond the arc as they converted twelve three-pointers at an exceptional fifty-two percent accuracy rate. Their overall field goal percentage was just as impressive at forty-nine percent for sixty-one attempts. From free throw line too, they maintained composure and efficiency hitting twenty out of twenty-seven shots translating to seventy-four percent success rate.


Defensively, Clemson was formidable; they amassed forty-eight rebounds—thirty-three defensive and fourteen offensive—while also recording eight steals and three blocks during playtime. This defensive effort limited Arkansas-Pine Bluff to just sixty-six points for their part despite them putting up a valiant fight.


Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions showed resilience especially in their paint game where they scored thirty-four points but struggled from distance with only six made three-pointers from twenty-two attempts—a mere twenty-seven percent completion rate. Their overall field goal percentage stood at forty percent after sixty-five attempts.


The Golden Lions were also able to force turnovers effectively causing fifteen against Clemson but could not capitalize on these opportunities as efficiently as hoped; scoring thirteen points off turnovers compared to Clemson’s twenty-two off thirteen turnovers caused by their defense.


Looking ahead for fans of the Clemson Tigers is another exciting matchup against Auburn University's team—the Auburn Tigers—at Neville Arena located in Auburn Alabama on December 1st scheduled for a tip-off time of 9:00 PM Eastern Time (ET).
