Clash at Climate Pledge Arena: Colorado Buffaloes Take on Iowa Hawkeyes in Women's Basketball Showdown

In their last encounter on March 21 against the Duke Blue Devils, the Buffaloes emerged victorious with a score of 61-53 after an intense battle that extended into overtime. Despite struggling with turnovers, having committed 23 during the game, they managed to maintain a solid defense without any players fouling out. Their resilience was evident as they overcame a low third-quarter performance (7 points) by rallying in overtime where they scored 11 points. The team's free throw accuracy was impressive at 80 percent, and their ability to capitalize on second-chance points (16) played a crucial role in securing their win.

However, it wasn't all smooth sailing for COLO; while they managed to snag an impressive number of steals (11), their assist-to-turnover ratio was less than ideal at 0.41. This indicates that ball handling and passing efficiency need improvement if they are to dominate against IOWA.

The Iowa Hawkeyes will not be an easy opponent; this is clear when considering COLO's performance against them earlier in the season. On March 18th during their first-round game, COLO showcased what can only be described as offensive prowess by putting up an astounding 82 points against Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders while shooting nearly half of their field goals successfully (48 percent). Their three-point shooting was particularly lethal at an incredible rate of 48 percent made from beyond the arc.

This level of offensive execution will be necessary once again if COLO hopes to overcome IOWA's home-court advantage and secure another victory for themselves and their fans. The key for COLO lies in maintaining defensive pressure while minimizing turnovers which have been a thorn in their side throughout previous games.

Looking ahead towards this high-stakes matchup scheduled for March 24th at Climate Pledge Arena set for tip-off at 6:30 PM local time (Seattle), fans should expect nothing less than full-throttle intensity from start to finish. With ESPN broadcasting nationally on channel 206, supporters won't miss a moment of what is sure to be an electrifying chapter in women’s college basketball this season.
