The Blue Devils showcased their defensive capabilities by racking up nine blocks compared to the Tar Heels' three. Despite committing nineteen turnovers, they managed to secure a higher total rebound count of forty-seven against thirty-one from their opponents. The home team also had an edge with ten assists and six steals during the game.
Offensively, both teams struggled with field goal percentages as Duke shot thirty-two percent while North Carolina was slightly behind at twenty-four percent. On the other side of the court, despite falling short in scoring efficiency overall and particularly inside paint where they only scored fourteen points compared to ten by Duke – The Tar Heels did manage some success from second-chance opportunities with nine second-chance points due largely to their twelve offensive rebounds.
