Showdown at Elma Roane Fieldhouse: Florida Atlantic Owls to Battle Memphis Tigers
As the Florida Atlantic Owls prepare to take on the Memphis Tigers at the Elma Roane Fieldhouse, fans are eager for what promises to be an electrifying encounter. The Owls have shown a pattern of resilience and tenacity in their recent games, and this upcoming match is expected to be no different.
In their last game on December 21 against the San Diego State Aztecs, FAU struggled with offensive efficiency, scoring only 48 points on a field goal percentage of just 35 percent. Their three-point shooting was slightly better at 26 percent but still left much room for improvement. The team's free throw performance was a silver lining, with a solid 71 percent completion rate. However, turnovers were a major issue as they gave up possession 17 times.
The defensive side also had its challenges; FAU allowed the Aztecs to score 75 points. This included letting them shoot over 61 percent from two-point range and nearly half of their field goals overall. Despite these struggles, there were some positive takeaways including securing 32 rebounds and limiting personal fouls to just twelve.
FAU's game against UCF Knights on December 18 showed similar patterns with turnovers being a significant concern as they committed an alarming number – twenty-two in total – which contributed heavily to their narrow one-point victory (59-58). On offense, they managed better from beyond the arc hitting half of their three-point attempts but still shot only forty-four percent from the field overall.
The Owls' defense did show signs of improvement compared to previous outings by making four blocks and five steals while also keeping personal fouils relatively low at eighteen.
However, it's worth noting that in an earlier home game against Howard Bison on December 16 where FAU scored just one point less than their opponents (45-46), they exhibited strong defensive capabilities by making eight steals and limiting Howard's shooting percentages across the board.
With these past performances in mind, it is clear that if FAU wants success against Memphis Tigers they must tighten up defensively while finding more consistency in their offense - particularly by reducing turnovers which have plagued them recently.
Looking ahead to January 20th when these two teams collide under bright lights at eight o'clock PM local time; fans can expect FAU’s players will need every ounce of determination and focus if they hope for victory away from home soil without any broadcast networks covering live action. Fans should not miss out on what could potentially be one of season’s most intense battles between Florida Atlantic University Owls & University Of Memphis Tigers!
