From the onset, the Panthers showed they were in for the win. Despite trailing by two points at the end of the first quarter with 14-16 on board, they bounced back remarkably in the second quarter by adding 24 points to their score while limiting their opponents to just eight. This turnaround was pivotal as it set the tone for the rest of the match.

The Florida International team continued its dominance into the third quarter by scoring another 16 points and concluded with ten points in the fourth quarter. Their offensive efforts were complemented by an equally impressive defense that held off any significant scoring threats from Sam Houston.
