Seminoles Dominate Jaguars at Donald L. Tucker Civic Center in Women's Basketball Showdown

The Florida State Seminoles, ranked 12th, delivered a commanding performance against the South Alabama Jaguars at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center, culminating in an assertive 80-45 victory. The Seminoles' season record now stands impressively at 12-0, while the Jaguars fall to a challenging 0-1.

From the opening quarter, the Florida State Seminoles set a relentless pace with a strong offensive and defensive showing. They outscored the Jaguars by double digits in each quarter except for the second, where they still maintained an edge with 17 points to their opponent's 10. The home team's scoring was particularly explosive in the third quarter when they racked up an additional 27 points.


The Seminoles showcased superior shooting accuracy throughout the game with a field goal percentage of nearly 40 percent and were especially clinical from the free-throw line with over 90 percent accuracy. Their two-point shooting was also effective as they made over half of their attempts.


Defensively, Florida State was just as dominant. They amassed five blocks and five steals during play which contributed to their impressive total rebound count of 60 compared to South Alabama's total rebounds of just over half that number at 42. This rebounding advantage allowed them to score an additional fourteen second-chance points.


On offense, assists were key for Florida State; they distributed sixteen assists leading to scores which is indicative of their teamwork and fluid ball movement against South Alabama's eleven assists. Moreover, their ability to capitalize on turnovers was evident as they scored eighteen points off turnovers while maintaining an assist-to-turnover ratio above one.


South Alabama struggled offensively against Florida State’s defense throughout all four quarters but managed to make nine free throws out of twelve attempts showing some resilience from the charity stripe with seventy-five percent accuracy despite being heavily outscored overall.
