Can Florida State Rebound After Duke's Dominance at Cameron Indoor?

The Florida State Seminoles, ranked 23rd, faced a challenging contest against the unranked Duke Blue Devils, culminating in a 46-88 defeat. The Seminoles now stand with an additional loss to their record while the Blue Devils celebrate another victory. The game unfolded at the historic Cameron Indoor Stadium where the home team took full advantage of their court.

The Seminoles struggled to find their rhythm throughout the game, managing only nine points in the first quarter and falling behind early as Duke posted 16 points. Despite increasing their output in subsequent quarters with 13 and 18 points respectively, they were outpaced by Duke's consistent scoring of over 20 points each quarter. In a particularly tough final quarter, Florida State could add only six points to their total.

Offensively, Florida State had difficulty with accuracy; they shot just 22 percent from the field and an underwhelming 20 percent from beyond the arc. Their two-point attempts fared slightly better at a mere 24 percent conversion rate. From the free-throw line, they achieved a more respectable but still modest success rate of around 64 percent.

Defensively, it was also a tough night for Florida State as they managed only one block compared to Duke's six. They did manage five steals over Duke's four but were outrebounded significantly with just seven team rebounds against Duke’s seven and overall totals of thirty-five for FSU versus fifty-eight for DUKE.

Florida State showed some resilience in certain aspects of play; they matched personal fouls with DUKE at twelve each and kept turnovers relatively low at twelve compared to nineteen by DUKE. However, this was overshadowed by DUKE’s superior assists-to-turnover ratio which stood at approximately one point sixteen compared to FSU’s point five.

The Seminoles did see some individual efforts worth noting: eighteen points came from inside paint plays and both teams scored seven second-chance points each – showcasing moments where FSU capitalized on opportunities despite overall struggles on offense.

Looking ahead after this setback on Durham soil, fans can mark their calendars for when The Florida State Seminoles will face off against Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets next week on January twenty-eighth at four PM Eastern Time at Hank McCamish Pavilion located in Atlanta GA zip code three zero three three two USA. This upcoming conference game will be broadcast nationally on ACC Network channel six hundred twelve for supporters unable to attend in person.
