Bulldogs Dominate Spartans with Sharp Shooting at Save Mart Center
The Fresno State Bulldogs improved their season record to an impressive 74-59 victory over the San Jose State Spartans. The Bulldogs showcased a robust offensive performance, outscoring the Spartans in each quarter with a final tally of 74-59.
The Bulldogs' offense was on full display as they shot an exceptional 47 percent from the field and an outstanding 64 percent from beyond the arc. Their three-point shooting was particularly lethal, sinking 14 shots from downtown out of 22 attempts. This long-range barrage contributed significantly to their total score, while they also added 18 points in the paint.
Defensively, Fresno State was just as formidable, amassing a total of 13 steals and blocking three shots throughout the game. These defensive efforts translated into points off turnovers, with the Bulldogs scoring a remarkable 25 points from Spartan turnovers.
On top of that, Fresno State's ball movement was fluid and efficient; they tallied up to 11 assists against only nine turnovers for an assists turnover ratio of about 1.22. This careful handling of the ball contrasted sharply with San Jose State's struggle in this area; they turned over the ball a concerning total of 23 times.
The Spartans did have moments where they shined through individual effort rather than team play. They were nearly flawless from the free-throw line at around ninety-two percent accuracy but only visited it twelve times compared to their opponents' four trips.
San Jose State also fought hard on rebounds pulling down thirty-four boards – seven offensive and twenty-seven defensive – which is notably higher than Fresno State's twenty-one rebounds overall.
Despite these efforts by San Jose State, it wasn't enough to overcome Fresno State's dynamic offense and stifling defense which led them to secure another conference game win before their home crowd at Save Mart Center attended by one thousand two hundred seventy-nine fans.
