Yellow Jackets' Effort Falls Short Against Seminoles in High-Scoring Duel
In a game that saw the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets face off against the Florida State Seminoles, both teams brought their competitive edge to the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center. The Yellow Jackets, despite a valiant effort, were outscored 80-95 by the Seminoles. The home team's record now stands at an impressive 22 victories while the visiting Yellow Jackets have yet to secure a rank.
The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets demonstrated remarkable resilience throughout the game. They started strong with 21 points in each of the first two quarters and continued to fight hard with another 17 points in the third quarter and finishing with an additional 21 points in the final quarter. Their offensive efforts were led by their ability to score inside, amassing a total of 44 points in paint.
The team's shooting accuracy from two-point range was notable at 46 percent, converting 25 out of their total 55 attempts. From beyond the arc, they managed to hit seven three-pointers at a commendable rate of 39 percent accuracy. However, free throws proved challenging for Georgia Tech as they made only nine out of nineteen attempts which amounted to just under half at a rate of 47 percent.
Defensively, Georgia Tech managed to gather an impressive total rebound count of 39 with personal rebounds contributing significantly with a tally of thirty-six; ten on offense and twenty-six on defense showed their determination on both ends of the court. Despite this effort, it was not enough as they fell short against Florida State's sharpshooting which boasted an overall field goal percentage of fifty-one.
On top of that, Florida State capitalized on second-chance opportunities scoring six points compared to Georgia Tech's eleven but edged ahead slightly in terms of points off turnovers by one point difference (13-12). Both teams exhibited discipline regarding turnovers and assists; however, it was Georgia Tech who had a slightly better assists-turnover ratio at approximately two-and-a-half (2.43) compared to Florida State’s ratio just shy under two-and-a-third (2.29).
Georgia Tech fans can look forward to seeing if their team can bounce back from this setback when they host Virginia Cavaliers at Hank McCamish Pavilion located in Atlanta GA on January fourth next year at seven o'clock PM Eastern Time Zone where fans can catch all action live as it unfolds.
