Texas Tech Lady Raiders VS Houston Cougars

In a conference game that saw four lead changes and was tied once, the Houston Cougars put up a valiant effort but ultimately fell short to the Texas Tech Lady Raiders. The home team's performance was marked by aggressive defense with six blocks and an impressive free throw percentage of 86 percent. Despite trailing in the first quarter with only 12 points to Texas Tech's commanding 31 points, they managed to narrow down that gap significantly over the next three quarters.

The Cougars' offense was led by their ability to convert two-point attempts at a rate of 52 percent and scoring nine three-pointers out of their total twenty-three attempts for a three-point percentage of 39 percent. They also outscored their opponents in paint points, tallying up to thirty compared to twenty-six from the Lady Raiders.

On defense, Houston showed tenacity with eleven steals and capitalized on turnovers by scoring twenty-seven points off them. However, personal fouls were an issue for them as they racked up twenty-four throughout the game which may have contributed to their inability to close down on Texas Tech's early lead.

The Lady Raiders showcased strong shooting skills across all fronts: fifty-four percent field goal shooting including fifty-three percent from beyond the arc and seventy-eight percent from free throw line. Their fast break execution resulted in fifteen fast break points while managing an assists turnover ratio equal to that of Houston at 0.71.

Despite both teams turning over possession twenty-two times each, it was Texas Tech who made more out of these opportunities scoring twenty-three points off turnovers compared to Houston’s twenty-seven. With seventeen defensive rebounds contributing towards their total rebound count of twenty-eight against Houston’s total rebound count of twentysix; it allowed them extra possessions which proved crucial in maintaining their lead throughout most parts of this encounter.
