Hoosiers Dominate Terrapins at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall in Commanding Victory

The Indiana Hoosiers, ranked 14th, showcased their dominance on the court with a resounding 71-54 victory over the Maryland Terrapins. The Hoosiers' record now stands impressively at 22-3, while the Terrapins face a setback with a record of 17-8.

From the onset, the Indiana Hoosiers took control of the game, outscoring their opponents in each quarter. The first quarter ended with Indiana leading by seven points and they didn't let up from there. By halftime, they had extended their lead to fifteen points and maintained their advantage throughout the second half.


The Hoosiers' shooting was particularly effective; they hit 44 percent from field goal range and an outstanding 85 percent from the free-throw line. Their three-point shots were also noteworthy as they made eight out of twenty-four attempts for a solid 33 percent shooting performance beyond the arc.


Defensively, Indiana was just as impressive. They amassed five blocks and six steals over Maryland's offense which struggled to find its rhythm throughout the game. The defensive pressure applied by Indiana contributed to thirteen turnovers by Maryland.


Indiana's teamwork shone through with fourteen assists compared to Maryland's ten. This cohesive playmaking ability was further highlighted by their superior assist-to-turnover ratio of one compared to Maryland's less efficient ratio of approximately zero point eight three.


Rebounding was another area where Indiana excelled; they pulled down thirty-nine rebounds including thirty-four on defense which limited Maryland’s second-chance opportunities significantly.


On an individual level, several Hoosier players stood out with remarkable performances that fueled this comprehensive team win against a conference rival at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall before an enthusiastic crowd of twelve thousand four hundred two fans.
