The Hawkeyes took control early on, outscoring the Wolverines 33-22 in the first quarter and maintaining their lead with a consistent performance across all four quarters. Their offensive execution was nearly flawless; they shot an impressive 53 percent from field goals and an outstanding 51 percent from beyond the arc. The team's three-point shooting was particularly lethal, sinking 18 shots from downtown out of 35 attempts.

On defense, although they managed fewer blocks than Michigan with only two compared to three for their opponents, Iowa still held strong and limited second-chance opportunities for Michigan by securing defensive rebounds effectively; they collected a total of eighteen defensive boards.


The fast break also proved to be a key aspect for Iowa as they amassed an impressive total of twenty-five fast break points demonstrating their ability to transition quickly from defense to offense.

Michigan's effort should not go unnoticed despite falling short against Iowa's robust gameplay. They were able to put up eighty-nine points against one of the top-ranked teams thanks largely due to scoring fifty-six points inside the paint and converting sixty-five percent of their two-point attempts into made baskets.
