Hawkeyes' Paint Power Falls Short Against Trojans in Los Angeles

The Iowa Hawkeyes faced off against the USC Trojans at the Galen Center, resulting in a 69-81 loss for the visiting team. This game brought Iowa's record to 8-2, while USC improved to 10-0. The Hawkeyes put up a strong fight but ultimately couldn't overcome the Trojans' early lead.

First Quarter


The game began with a dominant performance from the home team, as USC surged ahead with an impressive 28 points compared to Iowa's 13. The Trojans capitalized on their fast break opportunities and showcased their defensive prowess by blocking several key shots from Iowa.


Second Quarter


Iowa rallied in the second quarter, scoring 24 points and narrowing the gap significantly. Despite these efforts, USC maintained a slight edge going into halftime.

Third Quarter


In the third quarter, both teams displayed tenacity on offense. The Hawkeyes managed to score another 14 points thanks to Ava Heiden's presence in the paint and Journey Houston's dynamic playmaking abilities. However, USC responded with another strong offensive showing led by their efficient field goal percentage.


Fourth Quarter


The final quarter saw Iowa attempting a comeback by adding another 18 points to their tally. Chazadi Wright stood out with her all-around performance contributing both offensively and defensively for her team. Yet it was not enough as USC held firm defensively and secured an eventual victory over Iowa.

Despite falling short this time around against such formidable opponents like those found within Southern California’s ranks; there were still positive takeaways from this matchup which can be built upon moving forward into future contests including upcoming games such as one scheduled February first when they’ll face UCLA Bruins at Pauley Pavilion starting four o'clock Eastern Standard Time broadcasted live via FOX network channel nationwide!
