Iowa State Cyclones Host West Virginia Mountaineers in Women's Basketball at James H. Hilton Coliseum

As the Iowa State Cyclones prepare to host the West Virginia Mountaineers at James H. Hilton Coliseum, fans are buzzing with anticipation for what promises to be an electrifying women's basketball game. The Cyclones, coming off a decisive 81-58 victory over the Texas Tech Lady Raiders on December 31st, have shown that they can dominate both ends of the court.

Iowa State Cyclones VS West Virginia Mountaineers

The ISU team displayed a remarkable shooting performance against Texas Tech, hitting 69 percent from two-point range and an impressive 93 percent from the free-throw line. Their offensive prowess was matched by their defensive intensity, racking up eight blocks and limiting their opponents to just 37 percent field goal shooting.

In contrast, when looking at West Virginia Mountaineers' recent performances, there is a noticeable gap that ISU could exploit. The Mountaineers will need to step up their game significantly if they hope to challenge the Cyclones on their home turf.

ISU's strength this season has been their ability to control the paint as evidenced by scoring 38 points in that area against Texas Tech. This inside dominance is complemented by their tenacity on defense and rebounding; they pulled down a total of 50 rebounds in that same game.

Another factor tilting in favor of ISU is consistency; during a match-up against Villanova Wildcats on December 18th, they maintained solid three-point shooting at 50 percent and showed resilience under pressure which could prove vital against WVU.

However, it would be unwise for ISU fans to underestimate WVU entirely. Every game brings its own dynamics and surprises are always possible in sports – but based on recent statistics and performances – it seems likely that Iowa State Cyclones will continue their strong run when they face off against West Virginia Mountaineers.

The upcoming contest between these two teams is scheduled for January 5th at James H. Hilton Coliseum with tip-off slated for 6:30 PM local time (CT). Fans eager not to miss any action can catch live coverage via ESPN+ online network.
