Cyclones Encounter Rough Waters Against Ranked Longhorns at Moody Center

The Iowa State Cyclones faced a challenging contest against the Texas Longhorns, concluding with a 60-81 defeat. The Cyclones now stand with an unbalanced record, while the Longhorns improved their impressive season tally. The game unfolded at the Moody Center in Austin, where 7,013 spectators witnessed the event.

Iowa State Cyclones VS Texas Longhorns

The Cyclones opened strong with an 18-point performance in the first quarter but were outpaced by the Longhorns' 22 points. Despite a competitive spirit, Iowa State found themselves trailing throughout the game as Texas consistently built on their lead. By halftime, it was evident that catching up would be a tall order for Iowa State.

Iowa State's offense was led by determined efforts to penetrate the paint, contributing to half of their total points. They also showcased proficiency from beyond the arc with a notable three-point shooting percentage of forty-seven percent; however, this sharpshooting wasn't enough to close the gap created by Texas' dynamic offense.

Defensively, Iowa State managed to block three shots and steal possession four times but struggled to contain Texas' offensive onslaught which boasted fifty-nine percent shooting from two-point range and fifty-two percent overall field goal accuracy. The rebounding battle also proved difficult for Iowa State as they gathered twenty-seven rebounds compared to Texas' thirty-eight.

One bright spot for Iowa State was their free throw performance where they made nine out of fourteen attempts. However, turnovers were a thorn in their side throughout this matchup; sixteen lost possessions hampered any momentum they tried to build.

Looking ahead after this tough loss on Texan soil, fans can catch future action when the Cyclones travel again for another away game against Houston Cougars at Fertitta Center in Houston on February 21st at 7:00 PM local time (Central Time). This upcoming contest will be available for viewing so supporters can follow along and cheer on their team from afar.
