Pete Mathews Coliseum Hosts Jacksonville State Gamecocks vs Texas-Arlington Mavericks in Women's Basketball

The Jacksonville State Gamecocks are gearing up for a pivotal encounter against the Texas-Arlington Mavericks at the Pete Mathews Coliseum. With the game scheduled for December 20th, fans are eager to see if the Gamecocks can harness their home-court advantage and come out on top.

Jacksonville State Gamecocks VS Texas-Arlington Mavericks

Looking back at recent performances, there is a mix of concern and optimism within the ranks of Jacksonville State supporters. On December 3rd, they faced off against Samford Bulldogs and were defeated with a score of 51 to 65. The statistics from that game show areas where improvement is needed; shooting was an issue with field goal percentages sitting at just 32 percent from two-point range and only slightly better beyond the arc at 28 percent. However, their free-throw accuracy was impressive at 80 percent.

In contrast, during their December 1st game against Alabama State Lady Hornets, JVST showcased what they are capable of when things click into place. They emerged victorious with a scoreline of 74 to 53, displaying efficient shooting (52 percent from two-point range) and an aggressive defense that led to scoring off turnovers (24 points). This performance was complemented by strong rebounding numbers as well.

However, it's worth noting that consistency has been an issue for JVST this season. Their November 28th outing versus UAB Blazers saw them put up a valiant effort in overtime but ultimately fall short with a final score of 78 to 85. Despite losing this close contest, there were positive takeaways including dominating points in paint (48 points) and second-chance points (22 points).

The upcoming matchup will be no walk in the park as Texas-Arlington Mavericks bring their own set of strengths to Pete Mathews Coliseum. The Mavericks have shown resilience on court but will be challenged by JVST's ability to capitalize on turnovers and control the paint area.

For JVST fans looking ahead to this game – expect your team to come out fighting hard. If they can tighten up their field goal percentage while maintaining defensive tenacity seen in past games, there's every chance they could secure another win for this season’s record.

Mark your calendars for December 20th when Jacksonville State Gamecocks host Texas-Arlington Mavericks right here in Jacksonville at Pete Mathews Coliseum; tip-off is set for shortly after sunset around half-past six PM local time (6:30 PM CST). For those unable to attend in person – stay tuned as broadcast details will be announced closer to game day ensuring you don't miss any action from wherever you may be watching!
